Spring time is here..Not that is ever far away here in Huntington Beach, Ca, or Surf City as some would call it. Our summers are hot, but because we are on the ocean, there is almost always a breeze. In the mornings, when it’s really hot inland, the fog rolls in off the ocean. It burns off by afternoon, and the sun shines brightly until those early evening sunsets around 8:00 pm.
During those warm afternoons, it is the perfect time for walking shorts. Not too short, just right for a warm, spring day.
Take a look at these pretty shorts from the Elle Magazine site:

Us working people know all about the crock pot. The easiest way to come home to a house that smells good, and not have to stress about dinner, just scoop out the food, toss a salad and voila, dinner is served!
I mainly throw in a pot roast, chicken, or sausage before I head off for the day. But that is getting a little boring, although still delicious. So today I went looking for something a little different, and I think I will try this out over the weekend, so that I have time to make something else if I don’t like how it turns out.
Ingredients 2 10- to 12-ounce packages frozen winter squash puree, thawed 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 32-ounce container ricotta 1 5-ounce package baby spinach (6 cups) kosher salt and black pepper 12 lasagna noodles (about 3/4 of a 16-ounce box) 8 ounces mozzarella, grated (about 2 cups) green salad, for serving Directions In a medium bowl, mix the squash and nutmeg. In a second bowl, combine the ricotta, spinach, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper. In the bottom of a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker, spread ½ cup of the squash mixture. Top with 3 of the lasagna noodles (breaking to fit), half the remaining squash mixture, 3 lasagna noodles, and half the ricotta mixture; repeat, ending with the ricotta mixture. Sprinkle with the mozzarella. Cook on low, covered, until the noodles are tender, 3 to 4 hours. Serve with the green salad, if desired.Enjoy! let us know how you liked it !!

For years I struggled with my skin. Each time I tried a new product, which promised to do miracles for my skin, I was disappointed. I literally spent thousands of dollars on skin care products and none of them worked. When I met the man who is our chemist, and tried the products, I was amazed at how much better my skin looked over just a short time using the products. That is when I started to entertain the idea of bringing these natural skin care products to market. The idea was born from necessity, not from a need to make money.
Our product line will quite simply make your skin smoother, it tightens pores, and nourishes your skin. Bonne Foi’s Face Cream will make wrinkles disappear and take away those dry, flaky patches of skin. Our Seaweed Extract formula helps plump up your skin, while the lactic acid in our night time product will gently exfoliate and take away the old, dead skin cells. The Keratin hair care product infuses the hair shaft with Keratin, and makes your hair stronger and thicker.
“In 2003 Dr. Peter Agre won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his ground-breaking discovery of aquaporins, the water-channel proteins that enable water molecules to pass directly through cell membranes. This work paved the way for Bonne Foi’s innovative natural skin care system, which opens up these water channels to allow even more moisture and nutrition to flow directly into your skin’s cells.
If you are reluctant to take us at our word, then order some free samples, try us out, and if you like the results, go ahead and place an order.

At Bonne Foi we understand there is more to gaining health than simply eating and exercising. Water for hydration, green tea for helping to keep away impurities, massage to break up impurities in the system, and a little Tai Chi to strengthen our muscles and make us flexible. All of these are now widely practice in our part of the world as beneficial to our health.
In the western world, many of us associate spices with food and cooking which is normal but very limiting. While spices add color and flavor to the foods we eat, most spices actually have a medicinal properties which make them ever more valuable.
For years I have told my clients who have been suffering with stomach ailments to eat a little ginger; Ginger has the ability to aid with digestion disorders and nausea. Studies also support Ginger as an excellent way to decrease inflammation and inhibit pain. In fact, a most recent study regarding the pain relief of migraines shows ginger powder to be just as effective, in relieving migraine pain than the most prescribed pharmaceuticals. While the ginger powder has virtually no negative side effect, most pharmaceuticals have many unfavorable side effects.
Also in the Ginger family are Turmeric and Cardamom. Cardamom has a unique peppery citrus flavor. This makes it an intriguing spice to use with desserts as well as main dishes. Rich in fiber, Cardamom also has been shown to aid in digestion and has been found effective in silencing ‘hiccups’. The seeds of the Cardamom plant have many uses as well. Chewing the seeds are an excellent aid with the cessation of smoking and in India, it is common practice to chew on a couple cardamom seeds after a meal as a ‘breath mint’. An anti-inflammatory, Cardamom has been shown to lower blood pressure and is especially effective in healing issues of the mouth. If you are not inspired to add Cardamom to your diet yet, the fact that it is high in antioxidants makes it a must.
Another amazing spice coming from India, is Turmeric. As an anti inflammatory agent, Turmeric can be used topically, as well as internally. In the healing of rashes, bites and bruises use Turmeric topically. As does cousin Cardamom, Turmeric ranks high on the list for antioxidants. As well, studies suggest that both, Cardamom and Turmeric, are vital players in fighting cancer and both are instrumental in the role of brain health.
Good health is one of the best ways to keep yourself looking and feeling attractive and strong. Our natural skin care products work on a cellular level to correct damage to your face. With good food, spices and exercise you can help the rest of your body as well.

Fall Skin Care Tips
Comments Off on Fall Skin Care Tips
Summer time is over, despite the heat wave we have experienced here in Orange County, you can still smell a whiff of autumn in the air first thing in the morning. Just because the weather will eventually become cooler and crisper don’t stop using your sunscreen. And remember that the cooler air will also be drier, and that means keeping your skin hydrated is even more important than it was during the summer.
Drink plenty of water, and please, only use soap on your body, never on your face. Soap is very drying and can cause damage to the delicate skin on your face. Bonne Foi has a great Facial Cleanser that will clean your face, but is very gentle on your skin. And using our Night Time products to gently exfoliate while you sleep will help your skin stay soft and smooth.
Once every couple of weeks, mix up a concoction of either coconut oil and granulated sugar, or olive oil and sugar and give your body a soothing scrub down. This will help to exfoliate your skin, while leaving a thin film of oil that will keep you feeling silky all over.
For the cooler weather, it I also good to switch to a heavier, creamier skin moisturizer to protect your skin from the dryin effects of winter wind and cold. The thicker, more oily cream creates a barrier that will keep water in, and the cold dry air away from your skin. And don’t forget your lip balm, or gloss. Nothing makes you look less healthy and vibrant than dry, cracked lips.
Use all of our luxurious Bonne Foi skin care products to keep your face and neck looking fresh, dewey and healthy, and don’t forget to eat plenty of fruits, veggies and fish!!!

Fresh and Youthful Skin

How to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful? The best thing you can do is use our Bonne Foi product line. In conjunction with that it is important to spend as little time in the sun as possible. You will want to be outside enough to keep your levels of Vitamin D up, of course, but you need to wear sunscreen and if I can talk you into it, a hat as well.
It is also important to learn how to handle stress. Stress and alchohol as well as cigarette smoke are really hard on our skin. Don’t forget to eat your fruits and veggies because we know for certain they help you insides stay fresh and the colors of the veggies can help your complexion look rosy as well. But just know that no matter how hard we try, genetics and the aging process will have an effect on our skin. We know that for women in particular, our Hormone levels change as we age; we lose Estrogen, our skin tone changes. Those of us who had oily skin growing up may start to experience patches of dry skin. Our pores become larger and wrinkles begin to form and deepen with each day.
You can’t stop all the signs of aging, or turn back the clock. But there is hope. All of our Bonne Foi products have been developed based upon award-winning research and use natural ingredients to produce a more youthful-looking skin texture. We incorporate the use of seaweed, an organic source of vitamins, minerals, omega-3 , omega-6 and anti-oxidants into our products. Based upon Nobel Prize winning research we know these nutrients are key ingredients to repairing and rebuilding cell structure. In turn that helps our skin stay beautiful.
So to recap eating green leafy vegetables and taking natural, plant-based supplements which are high in beta carotene and vitamin C, as well as drinking plenty of water and green tea, are known to help keep skin and hair in top shape. Use your sunscreen, and use your Bonne Foi.

Good Food, Good Life?

The American Diabetes Association has identified some foods as super foods. These foods are benenficial for all of us, not just diabetics. They contain vitamins and minerals that are essential to healthy cell productions. Healthy cells make a healthy body, mind and skin. Here are Nine of them best:
“Dark Green Leafy Vegetables Spinach, collards, kale – these powerhouse foods are so low in calories and carbohydrate. You can’t eat too much. Citrus Fruit Grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes. Pick your favorites & get part of your daily dose of soluble fiber and vitamin C. Sweet Potatoes A starchy vegetable packed full of vitamin A and fiber. Try in place of regular potatoes for a lower GI alternative. Berries Which are your favorites: blueberries, strawberries or another variety? Regardless, they are all packed with antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. Make a parfait alternating the fruit with light, non-fat yogurt for a new favorite dessert. Tomatoes An old standby where everyone can find a favorite. The good news is that no matter how you like your tomatoes, pureed, raw, or in a sauce, you’re eating vital nutrients like vitamin C, iron, vitamin E. Fish High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids Salmon is a favorite in this category. Stay away from the breaded and deep fat fried variety… they don’t count in your goal of 6-9 ounces of fish per week. Whole Grains It’s the germ and bran of the whole grain you’re after. It contains all the nutrients a grain product has to offer. When you purchase processed grains like bread made from enriched wheat flour, you don’t get these. A few more of the nutrients these foods offer are magnesium, chromium, omega 3 fatty acids and folate. Pearled barley and oatmeal are a source of fiber and potassium. Nuts An ounce of nuts can go a long way in providing key healthy fats along with hunger management. Other benefits are a dose of magnesium and fiber. Some nuts and seeds, such as walnuts and flax seeds, also contain omega-3 fatty acids. Fat-free Milk and Yogurt Everyone knows dairy can help build strong bones and teeth. In addition to calcium, many fortified dairy products are a good source of vitamin D. More research is emerging on the connection between vitamin D and good health. Skin Cancer Starts When We Are Young
Bonne Foi customers know that our skin care line helps reduce and in some cases even eliminate signs of aging. Our unique formula helps plump up cells from the inside, and makes your skin look fuller and younger. We love that our skin care line works so well.
But we also advocate for being sun smart. Wear a wide brimmed hat, use sunscreen, when you are going to be sitting out in the sun for long periods of time, try to get undercover of an awning or an umbrella. All these things can help keep you free from skin cancer.
If when you were young you spent most of your time outdoors swimming , playing at the pool or the beach, and you are over 40, there weren’t many good options for effective sunscreen. During those care free summer days you may have done more damage to your skin than you know. If you start to see any abnormalities on your face or body, be careful, and err on the side of caution, go see a dermatologist.
Before you do go off to the dermatologist, take a look at the following excerpt from Science Daily.com:
“”When caught early, skin cancer is highly treatable,” said board-certified dermatologist, Brett M. Coldiron, MD, FAAD, president of the Academy. “Despite this, many people don’t know how to be their own detective when it comes to skin cancer, including what to look for on their skin or when they should see a dermatologist.”
To increase people’s chances of spotting skin cancer early, the Academy recommends everyone learn the ABCDE rule, which outlines the warning signs of melanoma:
• A — is for Asymmetry: One half of the mole does not match the other half.
• B — is for Border irregularity: The edges are ragged, notched or blurred.
• C — is for Color that varies from one area to another.
• D — is for Diameter: While melanomas are usually greater than 6mm (the size of a pencil eraser) when diagnosed, they can be smaller.
• E — is for Evolving: A mole or skin lesion that looks different from the rest or is changing in size, shape or color.
“Although skin cancer is more common among people with light or fair skin, everyone is at risk of getting this life-threatening disease,” said Dr. Coldiron. “SPOT Skin Cancer™ encourages people to invest in their health and spot skin cancer early, when it is most treatable. If you see anything on your skin that is changing, itching or bleeding, you should make an appointment to see a board-certified dermatologist.”
Always check your skin for any signs of irregular moles, as they say in the Science Daily post, it is always better to catch cancer early. With the current treatments available, it doesn’t have to be the scary word it used to be. Take care of yourself.
