Every year families spend some of their holiday time in the kitchen making Christmas Cookies to give to friends and neighbors, or simply to have for themselves during the festive season. The traditional cookies are sugar cookies decorated with icing and sprinkles, gingerbread men and women, chocolate chip cookies are always a favorite, and then there are the special recipes that are handed down from generation to generation.

We found a great recipe for something a little different from the usual Christmas cookies.

White Chocolate Cranberry Christmas Cookies Ingredients  1/3 cup butter, softened  1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 cup sugar 1 egg  1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt  1/2 teaspoon baking soda  3/4 cup dried cranberries 1/2 cup white baking chips Directions In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until crumbly, about 2 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, salt and baking soda; gradually add to butter mixture and mix well. Stir in cranberries and chips. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks. Yield: 2 dozen. Happy Holidays !! Bonne Foi

Bonne Foi & Beautiful Hair

At the Holidays we are more joyous, we are more stressed, we sometimes try to cram more work into a shorter day so that we can attend to our Holiday Chores..We buy special, fancy Holiday clothes for parties and celebrations, and we take photos to commemorate these special  occasions. It’s a time of year when we really want to look our best.

Our hair and skin can make a big difference in how we feel and look at this time of the year, so why not try a few simple changes that can help. First off, when you head to the salon for your new winter style, ask your hair stylist for a recommendation for a more gentle shampoo. At  salons, they sell several different brands of high quality hair products. In general they use more natural ingredients, less phosphates and more ingredients that help maintain a positive PH balance, which is essential for shiny, soft hair.

After you shower, towel dry your hair gently, and apply our Bonne Foi Keratin Hair Treatment. Keratin is a building block of hair, and our special formula will help your hair gain back its natural texture and shine.  Then let your hair dry naturally, with no blow drying or styling. If you wash your hair every day,  try skipping a day. Your hair will appreciate the rest and you probably won’t have to style it as much either.

Happy Holidays

Fall is here and soon the weather will begin to cool down. Although our change in seasons is not as colorful or cool as it is in other parts of the county, it is still fun to put the shorts and flowy dresses in the back of the closet and bring out the fall and winter clothes.

Here are a couple of Fall outfits from Glamour magazine that we just love;

Here, in Huntington Beach, Christmas is more of a state of mind than it is in the Northeast. There is no snow, although there is mistletoe. We just string up the lights, put out the wreaths, and rustle up our Christmas Spirit.

All along the coast out here in Orange County, the beach towns have their Annual Boat Parades. The most famous boat parade is in Newport Harbor. The celebrities and the other residents who live on the shores of Newport to all out decorating their homes. Boats that moore in the harbor put lights and other decorations on their boats and cruise around the harbor.

Long Beach and Dana Point have harbor cruises as well at this time of the year. No matter how bah humbug you feel about the holidays, once you finally find a spot and start watching the parade your mood will change. Some of the sites are wonderous, some are funny, but they all show the Christmas spirit .

Merry Christmas to you and yours from all of us here at Bonne Foi..May 2014 be a safe and healthy year for you!!.

Looking Good For Holiday Parties

Tis the time of the year when the celebrations begin. Company parties, friend parties, family get togethers usually begin just after Thanksgiving.  How important is it to you too look good at these events? Especially the company Christmas party. Some companies hold their annual party in great venues, are formal and they make you feel like a special person on a magical night. While some of these parties can be fun, it is important you look good and maybe show a more striking side of yourself.

Looking good is an important tools in your arsenal of tools used to advance your career. It’s never good to depart too drastically from your work day look by wearing too much makeup, but you have put some effort into looking special for this event. What if you don’t have a company party, what if it is just a neighborhood get together? Take a moment to step up your game. Wear a pair of black velvet pants, some Christmas ball earrings, mascara and a touch of blue-red lipstick!!

If you feel like you already have a handle on dressing well, and a good hair stylist, then please check out tips from Oprah.com for applying makeup just the right way:

“The Focus: Smoky, Seductive Eyes

The Pro’s Secrets

1. Apply an eye shadow primer that closely matches the color of your lids; a very thin layer is enough to keep the shadow from creasing, fading, or smudging—and won’t make the color look cakey.

2. Use a brush to blend a shimmery lavender eye shadow from your upper lash line to just above the crease of your lid. With a liner brush, trace the same shade below your bottom lashes. (Although the purple you see here flatters every skin tone, if you’re pale—and a little color-shy—you can try a lighter shade.)

3. Apply two coats of mascara. A volumnizing formula will add the length and thickness you need to match the dramatic effect of the colorful shadow.

Complete the Look Blend a raspberry blush on the apples of your cheeks—make sure it’s matte (shimmer on your eyes and face is too much of a good thing). A bronze lipstick is a perfect complement to bold, color-saturated eye makeup…”

Always remember, makeup won’t fix problems with your skin, so it is still important to use a natural skin care regimen that will keep your skin looking smooth and glowing, and please don’t forget to wash any makeup off your face before you go to bed…
