Bonne Foi & Beautiful Hair

At the Holidays we are more joyous, we are more stressed, we sometimes try to cram more work into a shorter day so that we can attend to our Holiday Chores..We buy special, fancy Holiday clothes for parties and celebrations, and we take photos to commemorate these special occasions. It’s a time of year when we really want to look our best.
Our hair and skin can make a big difference in how we feel and look at this time of the year, so why not try a few simple changes that can help. First off, when you head to the salon for your new winter style, ask your hair stylist for a recommendation for a more gentle shampoo. At salons, they sell several different brands of high quality hair products. In general they use more natural ingredients, less phosphates and more ingredients that help maintain a positive PH balance, which is essential for shiny, soft hair.
After you shower, towel dry your hair gently, and apply our Bonne Foi Keratin Hair Treatment. Keratin is a building block of hair, and our special formula will help your hair gain back its natural texture and shine. Then let your hair dry naturally, with no blow drying or styling. If you wash your hair every day, try skipping a day. Your hair will appreciate the rest and you probably won’t have to style it as much either.
Happy Holidays

Summer Time Refreshment

How to stay cool and keep on track? At Bonne Foi we know that eating well is just as important as good skin care. But eating well doesn’t have to mean eating bland. Eating well can be tasty and fun.
Summer is most people’s favorite time of the year, but it can get pretty hot here in Southern California. So in the summer, most of us opt for grilling and eating light. Having to use the stove and oven on an already hot day just doeant appeal to me. We also know that this time of year most of us show our bodies more than we would in the fall or winter, and looking our best makes us feel better about ourselves.
Out on various websites there are great recipes that are fat free and healthy but still cool and tasty for those hot summer nights when cake and cookies are too hot to cook and too fattening for that little swimsuit.
Here is the recipe from Allrecipes.com:
Ingredients Edit and SaveOriginal recipe makes 6 servingsChange Servings
1 lemon peel, finely diced
1 cup water
½ cup sugar
½ cup of lemon juice
½ cup carbonated mineral water
6 strips of lemon zest for garnish
Directions
1. In a saucepan, stir together the diced lemon peel, 1 cup of water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, and allow to cool. 2. In a pitcher or bowl, stir together the lemon syrup with peel, lemon juice and mineral water. Pour into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Garnish each serving with a twist of lemon peel. 3. If you do not have an ice cream maker, you may freeze it in a tall canister. Freeze for 1 1/2 hours. Remove and stir with a whisk. Return to the freezer and stir about once every hour for about 4 hours. The more times you stir, the more air will be incorporated, resulting in a lighter finished product.
Hope you enjoy this tasty, cooling treat. Share this with your friends!!

Winter Skin
Winter cold brings dry itchy skin. What causes it and how you can repair it?
WebMD has a great article on that common, uncomfortable thing that almost everyone experiences at this time of year. Dry Skin. While some people are simply born with dry skin, most are not. Dry skin not only feels bad, but when it goes to the extreme where you skin cracks and bleeds, you are at a much higher risk for serious infection.
The chilly winter win is certainly one of the causes of dry skin. There is less moisture in the air at this time of the year. Add to that the fact that as it gets colder outside, we turn on the heat inside the house. When it is cold and we run the heater constantly, that warm dry air will cause your skin to dry out.
Bonne Foi can and will help rehydrate your cells, and you can use it not only on your face and neck, but also your hands. Beyond that, WebMD has some other steps you can take to prevent your skin from drying out.
“Your skin is your body’s first line of defense against the elements. When sun, wind, and cold leave skin dry and itchy, don’t hide it under long pants and gloves. Replenish it!
To get the kind of smooth, sleek skin you’ll want to show off, learn these 8 top causes of, and fixes for, dry skin.
1. Winter Weather
When the temperature drops, the humidity level plunges too. Dry air leaves skin parched. “Once the weather starts to change, I see patients coming in complaining of dry, itchy skin,” says Linda Stein Gold, MD, clinical research director for the dermatology department at Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital.Turning up the thermostat doesn’t help, either. Indoor heating strips even more moisture from the air — and your skin.
Quick Fix: Dial Up the Humidity
Install a humidifier in your home to keep air moist. Set humidity at a constant 45% to 55%, and the temperature at a balmy 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Before you go outside in wintry weather, create your own moisture barrier. Protect your most sensitive parts — lips, face, and hands — with a scarf and gloves.
2. Steamy Showers
Setting the shower to steamy soothes your body, but it won’t do your skin any favors. “I know it feels wonderful to stand in a really hot shower… but it can dry out the natural oils in our skin more quickly,” Stein Gold says. Standing under that hot spray long enough to belt out your favorite tune is also a no-no. The longer you linger in the shower, the more you dry out your skin.
Quick Fix: Cleanse Coolly and Quickly
Dial down the shower temperature to lukewarm, and keep showers short. Five minutes is enough to get clean without over-drying. Save the singing for your car.
3. Moisture-Robbing Soaps
Don’t put just any bar of soap into your shower dish — they’re not all the same. Wash with a harsh soap and you’ll send your skin’s natural moisture barrier straight down the drain.
Quick Fix: Go Mild
There is another way to help your dry skin, It’s something you might not even guess. Houseplants. Plants release nutrients and moisture into the air. Take your more fragile plants indoors, and buy a couple of inexpensive plants, As you water and feed them, you help keep your indoor environment healthier and more moist.
But most of all, use your Bonne Foi products to keep your skin moisturized and looking soft.
