These five things can help you to keep your skin looking younger longer.

Use Moisturizer

Web Md States: ” Dermatologists recommend using moisturizer to plump up fine lines and make your complexion look younger. A good moisturizer can protect your skin from drying out, which leads to wrinkles. Many products that promise wrinkle reduction in 24 to 48 hours contain moisturizer as a top ingredient.”

Protect your skin from damage

We have written several blog posts telling you to use sunscreen when you go out, look for facial products that contain sunscreen. Protect your face by using both a good moisturizer and sunscreen.

“Long-term sun exposure and damage from the sun’s ultraviolet light leads to photo aging, which causes most wrinkles and undesirable skin changes.  Of course, staying out of the sun and wearing UV-protective clothing are the best ways to prevent wrinkles, but not many of us will really do that. So, using a broad-spectrum sunscreen (offering UVA and UVB protection with an SPF of 30 or higher) every day is the most effective realistic way — to protect skin and look younger.”

Use sunscreen even if you are staying inside, or running errands in the car:

“Even just a little sun time can age skin and increase cancer risk. If you’re outside only briefly or driving in a car, makeup foundation or a tinted moisturizer with SPF protection is probably enough. This is also true if you’re inside but sit near a window; UVA rays, which cause aging, can penetrate glass. Only products that offer an SPF value of 30 or higher can claim to protect against early aging and cancer.”

If you think that because you are in your 20’s that you are safe from wrinkles, think again. According to WebMD:

“It’s no secret that smoking can age you. One study showed the appearance of facial wrinkles under a microscope in smokers as young as 20. Odds are high that long-term smokers will develop deeply wrinkled, leathery skin. But smokers who quit the habit show less facial wrinkling and improved skin tone when they stop, so that’s another reason to stub out the cigarettes.”

You shouldn’t worry too much about using sunscreen or a good moisturizer until you are in your 30’s…

Wrong!!  “ Technically, sunscreen is the best anti-aging treatment and you should’ve started that when you were a baby. In your 20s, you can use retinoids and topical antioxidants to keep your skin young and healthy. “I have always believed it is easier to keep someone looking young than to take someone and make them look young,” says dermatologist Lisa M. Donofrio from the Yale University School of Medicine.”
