We all know how important it is to take care of our skin from the outside with great skin care. By now you may also know that Bonne Foi uses seaweed extracts in our skin care formulations.  It has long been part of our blogging theme to post about what good things food does for us on the inside, which also reflects in our complexions. How about this:  Seaweed has become a revitalizing ingredient in skin care, so why not “feed” your complexion to a great culinary treat from the inside!

Here is a salad recipe made from seaweed that will bring its rejuvenating powers to you!

Seaweed Salad

  • ¾ oz. Dried (Wakame) Seaweed (whole or cut)
  • 3 tbsp. Rice Vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. Light Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp. Finely Grated Ginger
  • ½ tsp. Fresh Minced Garlic
  • 2 Scallions (Sliced)
  • ¼ cup Shredded Carrots
  • 2 tbsp. Chopped Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds (Toasted Lightly)

Soak the seaweed in warm water for five minutes.  Drain and rinse and then squeeze out the excess water.  If the seaweed is whole, cut it into 1/2 “ wide strips.

Mix together the vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, pepper flakes, ginger and garlic in a large bowl until the sugar dissolves.  Add the cut seaweed, scallions, carrots and cilantro.  Toss all ingredients together until combined.  To finish the salad, sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the top and serve.  Enjoy!
