Acne, at 30? Say it isn’t so!! Acne is for teenagers, right? But here you are, in your thirties and still getting pimples?
What is going on? Well, not to worry, believe it or not having a bit of acne in your 30′s is perfectly natural.
Even though you are no longer dramatically changing on the outside like when you were in your teen years, your hormones are still working on your insides. If you are still breaking out, there could be many different reasons why. For one, it could mean your body is making preparations to carry a child. In your later 30′s, the cause could be perimenopause, menopause, or just plain stress. The first thing to try is just set aside some time to relax and de-stress. Then clean out your pores and get a good, natural skin care product. If the problem persists, or gets more serious, you should see your doctor because you may need a prescription grade acne medication.
Let me also recommend that you don’t over react to your acne! If you use a very powerful, very drying acne medicine, it may do more harm than good. Our Bonne Foi formula is not greasy, nor is it overly drying. Rather, it has just the right balance of gentle cleansing and toning to help keep your skin free of acne, without causing the side effects that some products can cause.
What else can begin to occur on your skin in your 30’s? Here is an excerpt from Oprah’s site:
“In Your 30s…
Even if you’ve taken good care of your skin, you’ll probably start noticing fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes and mouth, says Susan Taylor, MD, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Columbia University. Dark-skinned women might notice discoloration and uneven skin tone; fair-skinned women might see some hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and ruddiness. Skin becomes thinner and finer, there’s some loss of collagen, and cell turnover has begun to slow down, making your complexion look a little dull. You’ll see an immediate improvement if you exfoliate. You’re getting enough exfoliation if you’re using a retinoid at night, says Hirsch. But if you’re not, or if your skin isn’t too sensitive to handle it, add a cleanser, moisturizer, or night cream with glycolic or salicylic acid. Avoid harsh scrubs, says Taylor. Look for one with synthetic microbeads (indicated on the label), which are gentler than those containing larger, irregularly shaped ones.”
Gentle exfoliation and nourishing your skin is the best way to prevent some of the acne, wrinkles and fine lines that can begin in your 30’s . Another preventative measure is to USE SUNSCREEN, every day, winter, spring, summer or fall. Bonne Foi contains ingredients to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, and nourish your cells to keep them plump and full. We also have ingredients in our night cream which work to keep your skin fresh and your pores diminished.
