Even though it’s still hot here in Southern California, summer is over and the New Year is coming faster than we can possibly be prepared for. What have you done this year that is different from what you did last year? I know for sure that your used your Bonne Foi Face Cream, because your skin looks so good. And you remembered to use your sunscreen, but what else?
Have you given any thoughts as to what you might want to do differently next year? Everyone hates New Year’s Resolutions, right? Well what about if we talk about a bucket list instead? How about thinking of things you would like to do that you didn’t make time to do this year. Maybe you can think about living a more natural life, one that uses a few less things made by someone else, and more things made by nature, or by you.
As is was looking for things to blog about today, I read some great quotes about life and living it to the fullest. While many of them were inspiring and challenged us to greatness, most of us have more mundane things to deal with each day. Getting enough time for all the things we need to fit into our busy lives, enough money, enough exercise. So instead of posting some grand quote today, I thought I might use this one:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover… “
And put a footnote on it. Don’t worry about grandly sailing away, instead, take a few hours out of your Sunday afternoon and read a great book, go for a walk on the beach with your children, play on the swings, or just sit and watch the sunset. Take just a few hours away from the practical and simply enjoy what you choose to do.
Or work on a dream you have had for years, just pick one and try to figure out how to make it work, and leave all the reasons why it won’t work in a bucket on the floor. I have a friend who has often told me, when he begins to worry and fret over something, that he takes a minute to step back and think, what will I think of this problem when I look back on my life? Was it really that crucial? Did it deserve all the misery I caused myself in contemplating it?
Take just a little time to dream, to contemplate, to work on yourself, or to help a friend. If you get enough of those special times life will be more special.
